Smart aeration with floating screen
The aeration process is a crucial part of water treatment at Industriewater Eerbeek. During this process, oxygen is introduced into the water to allow bacteria to function optimally and effectively purify wastewater.
Together with IWE, Albers Alligator developed an innovative solution after an intensive brainstorming session: a floating screen that divides the aeration tank into two compartments. This allows the different parts of the basin to be aerated in a targeted and separate manner (bubble regulation).
The result? Oxygen supply is more precisely adjusted to the bacteria’s needs, making the process more efficient. This saves energy — the blowers, which consume a lot of electricity, don’t have to work as hard — and reduces the water footprint. This way, IWE takes another step towards fully circular water management.
